Determination

I am absolutely determined not to stop.  Had to go shopping for some clothes about a month ago.  Traded in those 28's for some stretchy 22's.  Let me explain what a stretchy 22 is though.  It means that I can wear either a 24 or 26 in non-stretchy pants.  24's if I want them to be a bit snug, 26's if I want them to be a bit looser.  I'm excited though.  Dropping 1 to 2 pant sizes is very good for not quite 2 months.

Now my stretchy 22's have gotten loose.  My not-as-stretchy DKNY 24's are not nearly as snug as they previously were.  And my size 10 rings are beginning to spin on my ring fingers.  In fact, I can now "force" my size 8 rings back on my ring finger, although I still refuse to wear them because I don't want them to get stuck.  I haven't lost my weight, but I have lost inches.  I am maintaining weight.  Which means to me, I am replacing fat and flab with leaner muscle. Go Me!

Stuff we already know, but hate to admit

Watch out for these fattening belly busters that leave you heavier, more sluggish, and hungry a couple hours later.

Great Advice

I found the following on Yahoo! It's pretty interesting reading. But how easy is it for a carnivore such as myself to really make a change such as this? Can I succeed at it? And if I do succeed, will it really leave me satiated? Hmmm...Check it out and see what you think.

Hot Hot

Oh Gosh, I couldn't imagine how hot that would be.  90 degrees is too hot for me.  I walked two miles yesterday afternoon, and it was entirely too hot to do so.  You would've thought I had waked 15 miles.  I pushed through it.  But now, I've gotten smarter.  I walked 1.5 miles this morning, that way, I only have 1.5 to walk this afternoon.  My goal was to walk 2 this morning and only have 1 left to walk this afternoon.  Unfortunately, that didn't happen, I was running late.  At any rate.  Keep pushing yourselves.  It does pay off.  The 22 pounds I've lost says so.

Yay Me!!

Ok, guys...Sorry I haven't posted in a few days.  Been kind of busy, but here it goes.

I weighed in Sunday, and the results, I have lost a Grand Total of 22 pounds.  Oh yes I did!  The little extra walking does make a difference.  Been walking two miles, watching what kind of snacks I munch on, and trying to maintain the portion control.  That's the hardest.  Oh and the walking two miles in the 90 degree weather we've been having lately.

At any rate, don't get discouraged if you get on the scale every day and gain an ounce...or a pound.  Because I've noticed a trend with myself.  During the week it will appear that I'm either at a stand still, or gaining, but by either Saturday or Sunday, I've dropped.  So fear not!  And don't get discouraged.

Will Power

Sometimes it is sooooo difficult to maintain will power.  Be careful of the sweets, keep exercising, and the list goes on.  Yesterday, I walked a mere 1/8 of my usual walk, when nature called.  There I was at the other end of the track, and there were two options:  (1)  Keep going, and hope like crazy you can hold it until you make it the entire 2 miles; or (2)  Turn around and only walk a total 1/4 of the 2 miles.  Well, I chose to turn around and go back, since I certainly didn't want to have an "accident" and have to walk back.  But, I made it ok in my mind not to finish my two miles because later I would have to journey to Wal-Mart in order to find a birthday present for my nephew who turns 8 today.  Yes, yes, I am a bit of a procrasinator when it comes to gift shopping.  At any rate, I walked a total of a mere 1.5 miles, between the walk at the lake and the walk at Wal-Mart.

Eh, at least I parked at the very end and walked?  Even I don't have confidence in that.  So, this weekend, I'm walking in the morning and in the evening; just to be sure I make up for any slacking I've done this week.  Arggghhh!  Maybe I need to walk 20 miles this weekend, my nephew's birthday party is tonight, and I'm sure there will be cake.  I'm not sure my will power is strong enough to resist cake.

I'll let you guys know how things go.

Shoes

Make sure, if you are looking to begin a walking regimin, and are a heavier walker that you invest in a really good pair of shoes.  Either get walking or running shoes, they are made for the forward movement.  Cross trainers aren't specifically designed for the same thing.  They are fine for short walks; but not for us daily walkers.  I currently have a pair of Asics, that so far I love.  I have figured out, that shoes are certainly not going to last me as long at 315 pounds as they did when I was 170-180.  Of Course that means, that I'll be spending twice as much on shoes, probably replacing them every three months or so, until I drop about half of my body fat.

Shoes are typically only good for about 300 to 600 miles, depending on the shoe and you.
